How to Explain War to Your [Retarded] Children: "Telling your slow child about the war is often difficult because, let's face it, they're retarded. They don't understand politics and conflict and international disarmament treaties. If your retard has asked about what is happening on TV, this is a great sign and you should be proud. This shows that your retard can identify the difference between Barney and dismembered Iraqi soldiers. Congratulations."

Colorado Daily: "Boulder police have been seeking a man who took pictures of his genitals at a local hotel with several high school cheerleaders' cameras.

From June 8-11 more than 280 students from a number of area high schools came to the University of Colorado to participate in a cheerleading camp. CU made on-campus housing available to the campers, however some girls chose to stay in off-campus arrangements; among them were several who elected to stay at the Broker Inn on 30th Street.

The girls did not notice anything awry during their stay until they had their pictures developed. A man apparently entered the girls' rooms while they were away and taken obscene pictures of himself with their cameras."

Inlines: "Remember when emoticons were new? You'd send a little joke to a friend with a ;) tacked on, they'd write you back asking what they hey?, and you'd say: "tilt your head to the left."

I've been feeling that way lately, as I've come to discover the usefulness of inline tags, but lament that they are little-known. Not that they'll become well-known because they show up here, but hey, it's worth a shot."

Power Line: BBC on the Rosenbergs: "The BBC notes that: 'The Rosenbergs were certainly Communists, but the man whose evidence did most to convict them - Ethel's own brother - later admitted that he had fabricated his story to save his own skin.' This is extraordinarily dishonest, since what Greenglass said, many years after the fact, was that he had no idea who had typed certain documents--typing that he attributed to Ethel in his trial testimony. His recantation had nothing whatever to do with Julius' guilt, which is undeniable."

No sex please -- we're Japanese: "To an astonishing degree, the sexes are going their opposite ways in Japan. Young women are revolting against the traditional role of obedient housewife, opting instead to live at home and shop and socialize with girlfriends. Startled men are retreating into solitary ways. Check-ins at the country's famed 'love hotels' are even falling. As birthrates slip, a social crisis looms."
