Christian Joy

While working for designer Daryl K in her 6th street store in Manhattan, Christiane met Karen O., lead singer of the New York City band the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Mutually admiring one another's aesthetic, Christiane began designing all of Karen O's stage costumes. One of her first creations was the "Hated Dress", made from newspaper, packing tape, staples and acrylic paint. Christian's designs have helped to create and define Karen O's unique stage persona, and has also led to Karen being called a "fashion icon" by the international press.
