CNN.com - Peru mulls new zone for downtown prostitutes - Sep. 27, 2002

Flor says she began working on the streets to help out her poor family. The earnings aren't great at a minimum of 10 soles ($2.80) per client, but she has stuck with it because she can't find another job.

More than half of Peru's 27 million people scrape by on $1.25 or less a day and underemployment and unemployment combined top 60 percent.
